    What is motivation ?

Motivation is an encouraging emotion or response toward any task to complete. For example, a guy on the internet tells you that he made money on YouTube in just 3 months by creating informative content, and he encourages you that you can also earn money by doing exactly the same. Now earning money can be your main motive or ambition that encourages you to work with enthusiasm to achieve that goal.

What are the types of motivation with examples?

    Intrinsic motivation

When you are motivated to do something because you enjoy doing that stuff, this motivation is called intrinsic motivation. Interest matters in this motivation. For example, you are motivated to join a football academy because you like playing football.

    Extrinsic motivation

This motivation relates to results and rewards. when you are forced by yourself to do something that you don’t like, but the encouraging force is due to the reward of that work. For example, typing jobs now—who likes to type alphabets? But in the result, you get money, so instant reward is the main motivation.

    Interested motivation

The motivation comes into existence when you find something that is good for yourself, even if you don’t like it, but you know that it’s important for you. For example, in class you feel that you are weak compared to others, so as a result you join a gym, so this is interested motivation. You don’t like to do heavy workouts, but for your health, you do that.

    Identified motivation

Identified motivation means being motivated to do something that has value, whether you like it or not. For example, you don’t like studies, but still you go for studies, as you know education has value in our life, and for getting successful, we need education.

Which is better: intrinsic or extrinsic motivation?

Extrinsic motivation is better than intrinsic motivation because intrinsic motivation only relies on self-interest, where as extrinsic motivation can be used to achieve big rewards in life even if it is boring.

    What is discipline?

Discipline is a habit of doing the same behavior or activity consistently every day without excuses. For example, you heard an athlete goes jogging every day. It doesn’t matter what the weather is or if they are not in the mood to do that, but still they go for jogging. The best example of a disciplined man is Elon Musk, who works more than half of a day continuously without skips. Even on weekends he doesn’t take off; the last time he took off was in 2018. This is discipline: following the same routine to make things better every day.

What is the difference between motivation and discipline?

    Motivation

    Short period of time

Motivation is for a short period of time, depending on the person and situation, and it doesn't matter which type of motivation it is; it can't just last for a long time. For example, if a person decides to go to the gym, and with high motivation he starts exercising, after some days he feels tired and skips classes, and his desire reduces, and he winds up.

    All use of energy

Let me explain what this means. For example, a guy is fully motivated for the first day of the gym, and when he reaches there, he tries every workout with full enthusiasm and energy, even the ones he finds difficult to do. He also does that, and as a result, he has no energy left for tomorrow. This will also lead him to skip, and all of his motivation will vanish in dusk.

Defeat leads to discouragement and disappointment.

In my opinion, motivation works on us when we see the result. In some cases objectives you were trying to achieve cannot be achieved, and this leads to disheartening and disappointment. As a result, you might leave the work or not work with as much energy as you usually do. Disappointment ends motivation, belief, and hope.

    Mainly emotionally

Motivation relates to your emotions. The more you are emotionally concerned, the stronger your motivation gets. But here is a drawback: working for emotion will lead to you paying a high price. For example, if you are new to trading and you are too motivated to earn money, you will work with emotions, not your brain. Like while purchasing a coin, you bring your emotions and think there will be a win or loss and randomly purchase any coin, but if you are lucky, then it might get some profit, but 90 percent of people fail. because they didn't analyze the market and the situation.

    Discipline

    Long period of time

Discipline is for a long period of time following the same routine continuously. You can’t say following a routine for less than 1 or 2 months with skips and delays and lastly leaving it without result is discipline. That is a short motivation. Discipline is a type of habit that you do daily. Once you build discipline, it becomes a good addiction, and you feel nauseous without doing it. Just like giving up a bad habit takes a lot of time, building discipline also takes a lot of time.

    Use of energy lightly

When you are a disciplined guy, you will not give your 100 percent at once. However, I am not saying that deep working is not part of discipline. However, instead of everyday work, do it deeply but not with full energy, with a calm mood, and try to make things better. Let's take an example of a sports car and a normal car with 1 liter of petrol. A sports car runs fast at takeoff, but after a while, not even crossing 1 km, its petrol gets finished, whereas a normal car takes off slowly, and slowly its speed gets faster every second. But you know what the benefit is? It goes farther than the sports car. It's the same as discipline: little work but improvement every second.

    Not depend on mood

Discipline does not depend on mood. This mood and emotion are the biggest enemies of discipline. People who achieve this know that it doesn’t matter what their feeling or mood is; they have to go to work without any excuse.

    Mainly physically

Discipline is physical, as emotions are not part of it. As you read the above point, it all shows clearly we don’t need emotions and feelings in discipline, just physical work. We have to shut down our feelings, cravings, and thinking during the achievement of discipline and just focus on work. For example, when you wake up in the morning, you want to sleep more, and you cannot get out of bed even if you want to. So not your body is with you; your mind and feelings are not with you.

Which is more powerful: motivation or discipline?

Discipline is better than motivation, as discipline is long lasting improve efficiency and no factor such as mood defeat and situation can not stop you from achieving a task. Moreover, motivation lacks a strong will that leads to early giving up.

Can motivation help to get discipline?

Motivation can help to acquire discipline, as you need motivation to start anything, and for taking it far to its end, you need discipline. Meanwhile, to start doing anything, you need motivation for why you are doing that. It can be any type of motivation, so find your motivation and commit yourself to a strong will and move further with discipline.

Interested and identified motivation is best for discipline because it is away from inner craving, and moreover, both motivations are for development of yourself, such as interested motivation for self-esteem and identified motivation for doing something that has value, which is very well related to discipline.
